TARYN M. FITZGERALD joined Vigorito, Barker, Patterson, Nichols & Porter, LLP in September of 2023. She received both her Bachelor’s Degree (2000) and her Juris Doctorate (2004) from Hofstra University, cum laude. While in law school, Ms. Fitzgerald served as an Articles Editor for the Hofstra Labor and Employment Law Journal and her note entitled “Executive Power, National Security and Federal Employee Collective Bargaining Rights: The New Department of Homeland Security” was published in its 21st Volume.
Ms. Fitzgerald is admitted to practice before the courts of New York State, as well as before the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. Her practice is focused primarily on defending professional liability cases. She has extensive experience handling license defense matters before the New York State Offices of Medical Conduct and Professional Discipline, and has defended all types of negligence actions including vehicular negligence cases, premises liability cases, construction accident cases, lead exposure cases, negligent supervision cases, and other negligence claims from their inception to trial. She has successfully drafted and argued appeals before the Appellate Departments in New York State and has successfully drafted and argued numerous dispositive motions on behalf of her clients.
Ms. Fitzgerald is a member of the American Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, the Nassau County Bar Association, and the New York Academy of Trial Lawyers. She is also a member of the Hofstra University Alumni Association as well as the Sacred Heart Academy Alumni Association, including the SHA Alumnae Lawyers Group. She is an active volunteer at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church in Malverne, New York, where she teaches Religious Education, and is the head coach for the Our Lady of Lourdes CYO Chess Team for players in grades 3 through 8. She previously served as a coach for the Our Lady of Lourdes Middle School Mock Trial Team, and still serves as a guest judge for the program. Ms. Fitzgerald also co-leads her daughter’s Girl Scouts troop.
