Deirdre Tobin is a seasoned litigator with a wide range of experience defending clients in cases arising out of premises, construction site and trucking/motor vehicle accidents. She has represented municipalities, a large utility company, construction companies, trucking companies, small businesses, and many casualty insurers.

Prior to joining Barker Patterson Nichols, LLP, Ms. Tobin was a Partner in a prominent defense firm in Manhattan, New York.  Ms. Tobin was also the Managing Attorney for a global property & casualty insurer for over ten years. She was responsible for the day-to-day operations of their In-house Staff Counsel Offices in New York and New Jersey. She routinely provided training to both Claims and Legal regarding various areas of law. In addition, she managed a caseload of high exposure personal injury and property damage matters from inception through to trial and provided legal opinion concerning various insurance coverage issues.

Ms. Tobin began her legal career at the New York City Law Department, in the Torts Division. She then joined the Special Litigation Unit where she litigated complex matters brought against the City of New York, including various agencies such as the Board of Education, Police Department and Department of Transportation.

Prior to that, Ms. Tobin worked for a prominent consumer products company while she completed her law degree.  In 2022-2023, Ms. Tobin served as Vice President of Programs, for the Suffolk County Women’s Bar Association.  Ms. Tobin is admitted to practice law in the State of New York, and in both the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York, United States Federal Court.
