On June 7, 2017 Todd Gilbert and Jerry Giardina gave a presentation to the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (Suffolk County Chapter) at their annual symposium located at the Stonebridge Country Club in Hauppauge, New York.   Mr. Giardina provided an in-depth discussion involving the practical implications of the Family Health Care Decisions Act (Public Health Law Art. 29-CC).  He was followed by Todd Gilbert who discussed obtaining proper consent for organ donation and performance of an autopsy, as well as the potential liability for a failure to obtain proper consent.
