Kiran Madra is an attorney with experience in various facets of the medical legal landscape. She was a claims professional where she assisted institutional clients in medical malpractice claims management, overseeing outside counsel, recommending strategy, and settling disputes. As a litigator, she has over a decade of medical malpractice litigation experience representing hospitals/institutional clients, skilled nursing facilities, physicians, and medical staff. She has served as in house counsel where she provided guidance in risk management /claims, health care privacy, compliance (HIPAA/HITECH and nursing home regulations), and Article 81 pursuant to the Mental Hygiene Law. In this setting, she also drafted, negotiated, and reviewed policies, admissions agreements, and contracts. Additionally, she administered in house audits of HIPAA policies, cyber security policies, and procedures to protect against data breaches. When providing analysis on legal issues, she coordinated and communicated with various departments ensuring that all relevant stakeholders were heard. Kiran also gained insight into other industries where she was able to draft and revise non-disclosure and non-circumvent agreements. Her knowledge of both the business and legal side of the regulatory, compliance, and litigation aspects of medical practice makes her uniquely qualified to provide a tailored approach to her clients needs.
Kiran received her undergraduate degree from the State University of New York at Albany in Political Science with Honors. She received her law degree from St. John’s University School of Law. She is admitted to practice law in the New York State.
When not serving her clients, she enjoys spending time with her family and volunteering on behalf of the various Sikh non-profit organizations and temples in New York. She is fluent in Hindi and Punjabi.
