On Feb. 22, 2018, Senior Trial Partner, Alfred Vigorito, secured a unanimous defense verdict at the Supreme Court, Westchester County, on behalf of his clients, a Board Certified Interventional Cardiologist and a major hospital. The jury swiftly returned with a verdict in less than thirty minutes, citing Mr. Vigorito’s withering cross examination of the plaintiff’s experts as a key factor in their determination.
Plaintiff claimed the defendants failed to diagnose an aortic dissection in a 57 year old married male who presented to the Emergency Department with complaints of chest pain. An acute coronary syndrome was ruled out and the patient was discharged home. Three days later the patient died in his sleep with an autopsy confirming an ascending and descending aortic dissection with massive bleed-out.
