Andrea Maestas is an associate with the firm’s medical malpractice defense team. Prior to joining VBPNP, Ms. Maestas gained her experience at two major defense firms in New York City and San Diego, representing hospitals, individual physicians, and other professionals in medical malpractice cases from pre-litigation investigation through preparation of trial. She also has experience defending general liability actions and conducting hearings for nursing home discharge appeals under the Mental Hygiene Law and Family Health Care Decision Act.
Ms. Maestas obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Arizona and earned her Juris Doctorate from Thomas Jefferson School of Law, where she graduated cum laude. While in law school, Ms. Maestas served as Chief Articles Editor of the Thomas Jefferson Law Review and published on a topic in the health care field. She also served as Vice Chair of the Moot Court Honor Society, where she received oral advocacy and best brief awards at the Robert J. Traynor California moot court competition. Since entering the legal field, Ms. Maestas has focused her career on defending healthcare providers in medical malpractice litigation and regulatory matters.
Ms. Maestas lives in Westchester with her husband and young son. She is licensed to practice in the New York, New Jersey, and California, as well as the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York.
